Athlete’s Foot

What is it?

Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection. It typically produces flaking, dry, red skin which can be itchy or painful and is often located between the toes or soles of the feet. If left untreated, blisters can form. Athlete’s Foot is contagious and can spread to the rest of your body including your toenails.

What is the Cause?

Athlete’s Foot, like other fungal infections, are often contracted in gyms, showers, swimming pools, and anywhere else warm and damp.

Recommended Treatment

Proper foot hygiene is the best defense to prevent Athlete’s Foot. Thoroughly washing ad drying your feet is very helpful. It’s important to see a medical professional as soon as you notice possible symptoms. Common treatments include anti-fungal creams or oral medications.
