CALLUSES
What is it?
Calluses are a buildup of dead skin that gets hard and thick, for your body to protect itself.
What is the Cause?
Calluses are your body’s response to excessive pressure in certain areas of your body, including your feet. The thick, hard skin that makes up the callus serves as protection for that area.
Recommended Treatment
The hard, thick skin can be reduced by using a pumice stone or by a foot specialist such as a Chiropodist or Podiatrist using various instruments. The best solution would be to address the excess pressure by ensuring proper pressure distribution using a custom orthotic.
